Netflix just confirmed that they are halting the production of the second season of The Witcher TV series. The decision came with the recent developments concerning coronavirus and how strictly countries are fighting it. The halting of the production will last for at least two days and might be extended.
Deadline reported that the Arborfield Studios in the UK will not continue with filming. The decision will help the countries’ efforts to slow down the spread of COVID-19. Last week, Netflix announced that they will halt the filming of all locations in the United States and Canada. They previously announced that other locations will be assessed case-by-case.
After this claim, Variety reached out to Netflix and confirmed the decision. Below, you can find the official statements made by the company.
“Cast and crew health is our primary concern. We are dealing with an unprecedented global pandemic that is beyond our control, and in many instances with mandates or restrictions imposed by governments (including travel restrictions in many countries),” said the studio.
